Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)

Yeah, I know that this is considered the weakest of the original series, but at the time of it's initial release, for me, there was was nothing more important than the Force Fever that was sweeping all of society back then.
I don't care that the Ewoks were corny, stupid & had a hit song at the time (if anyone out there has the 12-inch extended dance mix to this, contact me & you will have a new very best friend ... ),
for my sci-fi geeked-out ass, this sh#t wuz fo sho', yo.

Plus, let's not forget, this was the chapter in which Leia wore the outfit that influenced Star Wars nerds everywhere to engage in bouts of role-playing known as "Hands Solo".

Contrary to the other 6 billion people on Earth, this film is probably my favourite of the original Star Wars trilogy. I guess I'm just a sucker for a happy ending, but I watched this masterpiece on repeat as a child, thanks to the memorable scenes at Jabba's palace, through the Ewok-infested moon of Endor and on to the final battle between rebel and Imperial forces.

It's just the film where it all comes together, Luke is a badass and he confronts his father like he knows he has to do. Their lightsabre fight (though acrobatically eclipsed by anything in the modern Star Wars films) still got my adrenaline flowing back in the day, It's partly the reason I like this movie so much. Luke Skywalker is a competent Jedi, instead of a snivelling worm pilot!

I remember once during a summer me and an ol’ buddy had this film on in the background 6 times in one night. Return of the Jedi was my favourite back in the school days as it restored hope and had enough going on in it to keep my youthful mind occupied. At the beginning it reintroduces all the characters and shows them at their best. Han bargaining out of a difficult situation, Luke bettering himself at every step, Leia showing she shouldn’t be underestimated and the Droids always up to no good. The end sequence is split into 3 different stories with prominent characters and almost unreachable goals.
