The Flagship

Contrary to the other 6 billion people on Earth, this film is probably my favourite of the original Star Wars trilogy. I guess I'm just a sucker for a happy ending, but I watched this masterpiece on repeat as a child, thanks to the memorable scenes at Jabba's palace, through the Ewok-infested moon of Endor and on to the final battle between rebel and Imperial forces.

I remember once during a summer me and an ol’ buddy had this film on in the background 6 times in one night. Return of the Jedi was my favourite back in the school days as it restored hope and had enough going on in it to keep my youthful mind occupied. Yeah, I know that this is considered the weakest of the original series, but at the time of it's initial release, for me, there was was nothing more important than the Force Fever that was sweeping all of society back then.

" The Ups: That Luke has gone around in two movies wanting a incestous relationship with his sister and that she has responded a little on too. Mostly good effects. Satisfying hero moments for all the cast, except for Leia but she gets to wear THAT BIKINI. The Downs: After a terrific setup it all falls apart. Cute teddybears, villain with a change of heart. Another Death Star. Cute ending where all Jedis are seen as ghosts. The blue screen chase in a forest just looks fake even for it's time."
