"A communications disruption could mean only one thing: invasion." Before beginning my scathing review of this movie I must say one thing: I am an avid fan of the original Star Wars trilogy. As a child of the 90s, I grew up watching the 'Special Edition' releases and they defined my childhood. I still have fond memories of watching them as a kid. Now as much as I liked this particular movie as a kid, I revisited and found it a complete disgrace to the franchise and to the Lucasfilm logo. First of all, George Lucas cannot write scripts. At first it seemed to be the best starwars yet you sit down to one of the worst movies i have ever seen. gorge lucas made the special affects amazing but it doesn't cover for to letdowns in other areas. also jar jar binks must die!!

The only thing redeeming quality of Phantom Menace that the Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi fight scene was one of the best I had seen. That is it.

It seemed like George Lucas tried to dazzle us with special effects because he had forgetten to put in a halfway decent plot. The dialogue was wooden, the pacing off - at some times I was bored out of my mind and at others totally confused by what was happening.

Even watching it again on DVD I kept on fast forwarding to the better parts. All in all, I watched The Phantom Menace in 5 minutes. I'm still surprised at how badly Lucas screwed this up.

I wasn’t aware of the Phantom Menace’s release until the week of my 14th birthday. I was highly impressed though, for vain reasons but my eyes were highly absorbed by everything I saw. Spectacular! Everything from the beginning of this film until the climax of Revenge of the Sith was a fantastic plan devised by Palpatine. By the time I saw Attack of the Clones, I could already see how it was panning out and it was simply ingenious. Truly an evil mastermind. Seeing it unfolding at these beginning stages just shows how well thought out this first trilogy was but sadly it wasn’t perfect. The end sequence of this film plays parallels to Return of the Jedi’s climax. Which gives it loads of thumbs up in my book.
