This film revamped Science Fiction for all of us. A New Hope was released in 1977 and it changed the way we looked at space forever. I know it came after Star Trek but this saga owns. Star Wars is science fiction for the masses and has an epic following.

A New Hope brings forth the ideals of a young boy who had an ordinary life which was all changed by chance and his destiny was unv... read more

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."

When I first went to the theater with my dad to see Star Wars, I had no idea how much of an impact it would have on my life or on movies themselves.

Every time that I see those words appear on the screen and hear the theme music by John Williams, it brings back those childhood memories. The secret to the success of Star ... read more

"The Force is strong with this one."Star Wars is so much more than just a movie - it's a cinematic experience; an event picture with the ability to appeal to adults, teenagers and children in equal measure. It's an influential pop culture phenomenon which has become omnipresent over the last four decades, leading to video games, comic books, toy lines, animated television shows, and every type of ... read more

Movie Reviews (151-200) (50 movies items)

" Still the most epic of the "Star Wars" films and it made science fiction look fantastic on film. The original effects are still great. Great characters, especially Han Solo and Darth Vader are fantastic figures in a cast of memorable performances - and it wouldn't be "Star Wars" without the sound effects and the music by John Williams. While George Lucas' idea and story steals heavily from Akira Kurosawa and his samurai films it really doesn't matter that much, but that George Lucas has changed"

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die (2017) (443 movies items)

" Notes: Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to watch the original trilogy when it was first released, I wasn't even born yet when the first movie came out but, of course, like most of the kids growing up in the 80's, I watched them countless times with my dad when it was broadcasted on TV. To be honest, after all these years, I still think the whole thing is much more enjoyable if you watch it with the eyes of a 12 year old kid. Indeed, at that age, you don't notice all the small minor"

Funniest Movie Mistakes (7 movies items)

"Stormtrooper Headbanger Perhaps the best known error in cinema history! The stormtroopers weren't exactly known for being able to hit anything, so it's not surprising that one would bump his head. At least they didn't put llamas, airplanes or Brad Pitt in ancient Greece! "

ChihuahuaDaddy's Favorite Movie Dystopias (8 movies items)

"Yes, Star Wars! The whole series. Would you really want to live in the Star Wars universe? Sure, Jar Jar Binks is great for some laughs, but the series is called Star WARS for a reason. Even if there were no war in the galaxy, the Empire would be quite an unpleasant place to live."

500 Essential Cult Movies (502 movies items)

" This is one of those rarefied movies that caused a grave tremor across the entire movie industry, changing forever the way films where marketed and packaged. But there's more to this than characters slapped on lunchboxes. It's easy to call it shallow and naive, but this film is full of innocent heart, and that's what made it fun. Before SW: ANH, sci-fi had become ponderous and pretentious, but Lucas brought the fun and the thrills back into a tired genre, recapturing the heady days of Flash Go"

Best Star Wars Spaceships (POLL) (11 movies items)

"Ship: X-wing Pilots: Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antilles, Poe Dameron Votes: 15 The Incom T-65 X-wing is the fighter that killed the Death Star. Boasting an almost perfect balance of speed, maneuverability and defensive shielding, this is the fighter of choice for the Rebel Alliance. In the later years, newer models of the X-wing would be produced and handled by the Alliance's successor, the Resistance."
