After 2 movies directed by Leonard Nimoy, it was William Shatner's turn to direct a Star Trek flick. I had been warned by my fellow listal members that this installment was pretty bad and, indeed, it turned out to be the worst Star Trek flick I have seen so far. "20.1. Shatnerin ohjaama Trek-leffa alkaa puoli tuntia kestävällä leireilyjaksolla, jossa Kirk, Spock ja Bones laulavat leirinuotion ympärillä. Osio on aivan täyttä paskaa. Sen jälkeen Spockin veli etsii Jumalaa ja kaappaa Enterprisen löytääkseen tämän. Matkalla on paljon hassuhuumoria, joka on tasoa "Tunnen tämän aluksen kuin omat taskuni", jonka jälkeen kävellään päin seinää. Osio on aivan täyttä paskaa. Ja se oikeastaan siitä. "I had two gripes with this film. 1)It was far too short. I didn't get my money's worth. 107 minutes...take out the credits and intro nonsense and you're left w/ an hour and a half for the movie. That's crap! A film should (at least) be a full two hours in length if not 2 and 1/2. 2)I just found the premise...the whole thing w/ Spock's brother in search of God...well, ridiculous. the rest of the film was just fine...just too damned short. "

"Shatnerkin halusi päästä ohjaaman oman Trekkinsä ja lopputulos onkin lopulta niin syvällä ohjaajan omassa perseessä että hohhoi. Tässä ilmeisesti etsitään jumalaa ja ketään ei kiinnosta. Harmillista että Shatnerin suunnittelema loppu kaatui budjettisyistä. Siinä silmistään salamoita ampuvan jumalan lisäksi häntä olisivat jahdanneet kumipukuiset ja savuavat kivihirviöt. Harmillista."
