This is, so far, my favorite Star Trek movie. Not surprisingly, it turned out to be to the most successful movie of the serie until, of course, the reboot by J. J. Abrams. It starts out as a direct sequel to the previous movie as Admiral Kirk and his crew are shipping back to Earth to be judged for their 'crimes' but after 10 minutes, they just dropped the whole thing since there is a menacing pro... read more

Save the wales. By blowing up waling boats or threatening the world powers. Really dislike Gillian. Funny. Time travel is cheating.

As time goes on, the probe starts to cause major storms on Earth and threaten its destruction. James T. Kirk and crew are called upon once again to save mankind. Let's Talk About Leftovers (50 movies items)

" While I think "Star Trek: First Contact" and "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" are better Star Trek movies, I'd say this has an edge on them in accessibility and affability. Its first and last scenes are a bit of a slog as they wrap up loose ends from the previous movies. Act 2 is a pleasure cruise of comedy that can be enjoyed by anyone, whether they're Star Trek fans or not. "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" treats its characters with more affection that any other movie in the franchise, playfu"

Movie Reviews (part 10) (50 movies items)

" The Ups: It is a charming lightweight comedy that gives almost everyone in the cast something to do (except George Takei) and it is so feel-good fun and charming it is hard not to be taken by it. It also doesn't drown the non-fan with too much continuity and background information. The Downs: Sometimes if I feel very cranky I feel the ecological message is too much and seems like a Greenpeace activist has written the script. "

" Watched March 3rd - Amazon Streaming - Rewatch "No, I'm from Iowa - I only work in outer space." - James T. Kirk The Voyage Home completes the the story started with Wrath of Khan and involves time travel back to 20th century Earth - The time travel episodes were my favorite ones of the TV series - and it is one of the reasons I love this movie so much - another reason is the humor, it is lighter in tone than the other movies and there are many funny lines and scenes - the save the whales "

Neljäs Star Trek on siis aivan hulvatonta perseilyä alusta loppuun. Ymp"

Interesting film facts (389 movies items)

"The punk on the bus is played by associate producer Kirk R. Thatcher. He also wrote the song that is playing on the boom box during his scene. The time-travel method used in the film comes from the Star Trek episode 'Tomorrow is Yesterday'. This film features the only instance in which Kirk says "Scotty, Beam me up" Humpback whales, when they sing, move into an upside down vertical position as correctly depicted in the movie. After hearing the humpback response, the alien probe also moves "
