Since this movie had a rather bad rep, I wasn't expecting much from it and since I had rather low expectations, I thought it was not bad at all. I mean, since they still try to get the smallest budget as possible, the whole thing still looks pretty cheesy and I thought it was rather long and slow when in fact the movie lasts only a little more than 90 minutes but still there were many things I enj... read more

Movie Reviews (part 10) (50 movies items)

" The Ups: It do have the most memorable destruction of a starship ever put on film - especially since its such a iconic symbol. Christopher Lloyd gives everything as a Klingon and really makes one of his more engaging roles in his career. The cast and crew still look good for a new entry in the series. The Downs: The effects and sets could have needed a healthier budget as some of what is shown here is weak and obviously fake blue-screen which is a disappointment compared to the excellent qua"

"The startling, upsetting death of Genesis planet hostage Dr. David Marcus (Merritt Butrick) - stabbed in the throat by a Klingon on orders from treacherous Klingon Captain Kruge (Christopher Lloyd), and Admiral James T. Kirk's (William Shatner) stunned reaction to the news of the death of his son delivered by Lieut. Saavik (Robin Curtis) ("Admiral, David is dead") -- he stumbled backwards to the floor when trying to sit in his captain's chair on his own hijacked starship USS Enterprise, and croa"

Films and the critics who hate them (743 movies items)

"This 1984 film's few and unimpressive special effects evidently qualify it as science fiction, but the genre it really belongs to is the male weepie: there hasn't been a gooier buddy romance on the screen since Joe Buck took Ratso Rizzo to Miami. - Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader"

" Watched January 21st - My DVD collection - Rewatch "How are we doing? - funny you should put it quite that way, Jim - we are doing fine, but I'd feel safer giving him one of my kidneys than what's scrambled in my brain." - Dr. Leonard McCoy I have always considered Search For Spock to be one of the weaker entries in the Trek series, but it really isn't all that bad, it just suffers in comparison to some of the other ones, particularly Wrath of Khan - this movie picks up right where Khan lef"

Periaatt"

Worst Nostalgia Critic Reviews (2008-2012) (32 webtv items)

"Or just Star Trek Month in general, with the exception of The Final Frontier and Insurrection. I can understand why Doug did Star Trek Month as in preparations for the anniversary special, To Boldy Flee. But this film, The Motion Picture, and Generations don't have enough flaws and material to make fun of for NC reviews. Key Negatives: -Forced Jokes -Not Enough Material -Not Enough to Make Fun of -Running Gag Annoying -Underwhelming "GENESIS?!" That line was overused throughout the entire"
