Martin was a normal teenage boy before the country collapsed in an empty pit of economic and political disaster. A vampire epidemic has swept across what is left of the nation's abandoned towns and cities, and it's up to Mister, a death dealing, rogue vampire hunter, to get Martin safely north to Canada, the continent's New Eden.

This one was just...dissapointing. The trailer makes this look like some kind of emotionally charged vampire epic, but in reality this film is shallow, with plot potiental that never gets used. All in all, it's just a wasted opprotunity, and the actors do their jobs so well, that all you can do is wish they were in a film more deserving of their talents. It's just...generic. Not horrible, but not good by any stretch of the imagination."

"Is it my imagination, but doesn't "Stake Land" sound like it could be the name of a franchised beef restaurant?
Anyways,
take the 2009 zombie flick "Zombieland", remove the humor, replace the zombies with mindless vampires, & of course, replace the word "zombie" in the title with the word "Stake", & what you end up with, is this movie.
A bloodsucking apocalypse that I found myself enjoying a bit more the comparable "I Am Legend".

"I've seen things you wouldn't believe. Things a boy shouldn't see. I was like any other kid; I didn't believe in the boogeyman. Then the world woke up to a nightmare."
The funny thing about this movie is that it was added to Netflix in Canada a few days after it was recommended on the Netflix Instant Project. This was a really good vampire movie and probably the best horror movie I've seen in a while. It also avoids most of the cliches vampire movies have."

"We were on our own now, Me and Mister, traveling through a ruined land - pockets of civilization survived, towns locked down behind fences and guns holding the night away, cults spread like wildfire across the southern states waiting for the messiah, but he never came - death came in its stead, and it came with teeth." - Martin
As other reviews have stated, Stake Land is Zombieland with Vampires instead of Zombi"

Decided to make a double-feature horror night & thanks to this project I had two films that were up to the task. First we have Zombieland: the vampire, comedy-free, no-famous-actors version. It was entertaining enough, with some excellent acting & memorable moments, but I just didn't fall in love with it like some others have.
Just a thought: Kelly McGillis looks like shit now.
Currently streaming on Netflix"

Best horror film I've seen in several years. Solid acting, terrific storyline, great atmosphere and interesting characters. A must-see for anyone who loves good movies.
