"A fully impressive debut effort by Sergei Eisenstein, showcasing the gradual intensity of a workers' strike. Through its quick-paced editing, intricate shot composition, and typecast performances, the film expresses a unique, unbelievable level of unbridled creativity and merciless brutality; in my opinion, far more than Battleship Potemkin ever had.

Strike is in an impressive first effort by Sergei Eisenstein, my favorite Soviet montage filmmaker. The editing and the filmmaking is inventive and energetic, but the humor is a little old hat; the story and the themes weren't powerful enough to make me think irrationally as much as the more eloquent films Battleship Potemkin, The Birth of A Nation, and Earth.
