I decided to see this at the theater I worked at since I had already seen the ones I was planning on seeing. I did think the trailer looked funny, but otherwise it hadn't caught my attention with it's pretty much cliche premise. Naomi Watts does a great Russian accent. If this was the first movie I ever saw with her I would assume that it's her natural voice. There are some really cute moments thr... read more

St. Vincent

“Indie dramadies about softhearted curmudgeons befriending adorable, precocious moppets is a genre that produces more duds than gems. Case in point: St. Vincent, Bill Murray’s entry in that much-abused genre finds him saddled with babysitting a tween that feels like the embryonic version of Jason Schwartzman in Rushmore. Except writer/director/co-producer Theodore Melfi is no Wes Anderson, and St. Vincent is often left adrift tonally, cliché in narrative, and buoyed by strong performances from the three leads. Murray can do likeable prick in his sleep, it’s his default mode, but he still does strong work here. Melissa McCarthy gets little to do, but she does manage to nail the tricky balance between drama, comedy, and barely concealed resentment in a long freeform monologue detailing h” read more

"Maggie (Melissa McCarthy), a struggling single woman, moves to Brooklyn with her 12-year-old son, Oliver (Jaeden Lieberher). Having to work very long hours, she has no choice but to leave Oliver in the care of Vincent (Bill Murray), a bawdy misanthrope next door. Vincent takes Oliver along on his trips to the race track, strip club and dive bar, and an unlikely friendship is born. The man is a mentor to the boy in his hedonistic way, and Oliver sees the good in Vincent that no one else can.Relea"

"Bill Murray is at his grimiest as a grumpy man who is forced to look after his new neighbour's son and discovers a new lease of life. This comedy-drama has plenty to like but it is owned by Murray, who casually wanders through the film with an air of pure contempt for the world while being ably supported by Melissa McCarthy and Naomi Watts. A small movie that deserves to be seen, even if the ending is a little sentimental."

"2015/12/19 @home on DVD with Kendra Entertaining, funny, and touching movie about a man and his relationships with the people around him, focusing on the friendship with the young child from next door. Description sounds like a bore, but movie delivers."

"Bill Murraylla menee huonosti, mutta lopussa hänestä tehdään pyhimys. Lopputekstijakso on varmaan elokuvahistorian hauskimpia yksittäisiä hetkiä."
