" One of Gregg Araki's least imaginative and visually striking films, Splendor is about a girl who's in love with two guys, and since the two guys feel just as strongly for her, they all decide to enter into a three-way relationship. It might sound edgy and titillating, but the problem is that, although the female character is easy to like (and her "confessionals" are a hoot to watch), the two guys are absolute tools, with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, which makes it very hard to sympathize"

“I have a somewhat difficult relationship with Gregg Araki. He is a very talented director but most of his movies (expect 'Mysterious skin') fail to really impress me. This movie is a good example. I really enjoyed the directing, the acting was decent and I liked the concept but still the whole thing gave a rather average feeling. I guess it has to do with the facts that the characters are neither really charismatic, entertaining or interesting enough. Furthermore, the story is still rather generic and rather predictable. I still think it is a worth a look though, especially if you are interested in Gregg Araki's work.” read more
