Third outing for Spidey.

Posted : 5 months, 2 weeks ago at Jan 19 19:08
''This suit, where'd this come from? The power, feels good... But you lose yourself to it...'' A strange black entity from another world bonds with Peter Parker and causes inner turmoil as he contends with new villains, temptations, and revenge. Tobey Maguire: Spider-Man / Peter Parker The third outing for Spider-Man, the third film for our beloved hero, a third outing we waited for with baited breath. So what does Spider-Man 3 deliver to us? A mixed bag thats what. It's enjoyable yes but does it offer anything new? not exactly. The story revolves around revenge, and revenge is a powerful emotion, yet a dark descent. Peter Parker believes it's a thing to be avoided as it has turned his former ally into his most deadly nemesis. However Peter himself finds himself sucked into th...Read more

What the crap was this?! You know, people told me it would be bad, but I honestly didn't think it could be this hideous! It absolutely suffered from Batman-Sequel-itis; the first movie was good and dramatic - the sequels were vermin feeding off the popularity of the first movie while simultaneously turning the franchise into a complete mockery of itself. The whole thing was way too long, with way too many evil villains, and unnecessary plotlines. I think someone forgot to send this one to the editing room to cut out some scenes.

Try as hard as I might I couldn't get into this movie. It was pretty average. Sure the way Sandman and Venom was done was cool but that's about the only thing that stood out for me. I didn't like either Toby Maguire's or Kirsten Dunst's performance and I definitely didn't buy Kirsten Dunst singing. I should have realised that I wasn't going to enjoy this right from the beginning. The opening credits part made me feel ill and went on far too long. The action scenes had far too much action (if that's possible) that was all over the place so much so it gave me a headache and I had trouble seeing what was going on. If there is a number 4 I won't care to see it, after seeing this movie I am done with this franchise.

personally not one of my favourites. it wasnt as exciting as hoped it to be. it seemed a little too "dark" even though spiderman went black. the acting was fairly good but could've been better

Ok for Fans of the Comics

I enjoyed this movie, not as much as the previous two, but still had a thrill watching it. For those of you expressing disappointment at the "dark" tone, its fairly obvious you've never read the Spider-Man comic books, or you'd have expected it as soon as you saw the black suit. **SOME SPOILERS AHEAD** This was one of the darkest times in Spidey's/Peter's life. The symbiote made his relationships with everyone (friend and foe) on edge, and he had some serious anger issues. Of course, the movie kind of flibbed his relationship with Gwen Stacey, as she was his first love before MJ. In fact, the scene from Movie 1, where Green Goblin tosses MJ off the bridge...was actually Gwen in the comics...and she died. That guilt still haunts Peter to this day. I thought the special effects ...Read more

Its definetly a lot more of a dark look to spiderman. I didnt enjoy it as much as the first but probably more than the second in the series. Yup, Spidey goes Emo! Thats all I can say :)

too predictable and too long

Everyone here has made good points, so I'll just summarize my views quickly. First, I agree 100% with Jessica, and ForgivenForSure has some legitimate points about the ticks off in this film. The jazz scene was stupid, and I too forgot this was a Spiderman film! Also, most scenes were very dark, especially the fights between Harry and Spiderman in the alley. The visual effects were lost because the camera work was going all over the place. While I enjoyed Spiderman 1 and 2, this third installment was way too long, way too filled with villains that weren't depicted properly or explained (Sandman especially), and it got to me. An unnecessary lengthy film. I don't think I'll watch this again. Unless you pay me ;) to waste more time. ...Read more

Spider-Man 3 (slight spoilers)

Posted : 2 years, 1 month ago at May 26 4:34
This movie didn't keep me in my chair like the other two did. Something was definitely lacking in this third movie of the franchise...the adoration of Spider-Man was completely cheesy, not to mention his playing to the crowds. I was with MJ---she deserved to feel hurt that he ruined "their" kiss for a stupid publicity stunt. A true hero wouldn't even play to the crowds in such an obvious manner, swooping in and opening himself up to an unmasking (which didn't happen, but easily could have). This movie sucks compared to the other two. Still watchable, but not in one sitting. It is just too much....however, I was definitely waiting for Bruce Campbell to appear. His cameo is worth the pain of sitting through half the movie. Too many villains, too much predictability...too much c...Read more

While the first one was amazing and the second still great, the third is just "good".
My Problem is that they put too much inside. Three villians, friendship, love, ...
Hope the next will concentrate on one theme. And hopefully feature "the Rhino" :-)

To Cheese Or Not To Cheese

Posted : 2 years, 1 month ago at May 15 22:53
Eventually one has to ask themselves is it better to have intentional or unintentional cheese.

Ok well that's not really a question. Unintentional is always the worst and this movie had plenty of both unfortunately. It was painful at times, full of painful giggles wondering "What the hell were they thinking?"

I won't take away, the action sequences great as usual, effects...amazing. But they spent too much time on cheese and too little on actual meaningful plot.

With the first two spider-man movies being good, they were always going to be a hard act to follow. Alas, this movie isn't as good. It's not unwatchable though - there's some really cool action sequences in the movie where you want to shout and scream along with the action, and the baddies - for there are three - are quite fun an entertaining. But...it's not flawless. The multiple bad guys - needed to make the plot really work - detract screen time from each other and don't give you quite enough time to see their development build it's obvious the filmmakers wanted you to. Similarly, Peter's character development isn't as good. Previously, we've seen him struggle to make the right choices for the right reasons. Watching him struggle to make the wrong choices just isn't as fun....Read more

Don't worry, I'm not going to stick spoilers in my review while neglecting to say there are spoilers in my title (*hint, hint*) I do enjoy the Spidey series quite a bit, and Sam Raimi, and the random Bruce Campbell cameos. But I digress. I thought it was a really good time, action packed, nice tie-ins with Venom, blah, blah. To be honest, I've never been all that excited about Kirsten as MJ (I think Alicia Witt or Lauren Ambrose would have been good, Laura Prepon, while a redhead, would have made this movie awkward with Topher, would have been like some weird parallel universe thingy). Unfortunately, there was just something missing that the first 2 movies had, not sure what it is, but that's why I gave it a 9/10. To be sure, I like just about everything I watch, I don't pick t...Read more

The ending was the biggest disappointment, Harry died and he was my favorite charactor. They didn't have enough time in this movie to show all the villains devolp their storylines.

Pure hilarity

Posted : 2 years, 1 month ago at May 11 6:16
I thought this film was utterly hilarious. I think it was a bad film, but one of those that is so bad it's good and entertaining at the same time. There were so many plot holes in the film that they're probably not even worth listing. The Venom symbiote fell to Earth and then just chilled out in Parker's bedroom for about an hour before taking him over. Why!? I've always thought the casting of Spider man and MJ was utterly wrong, and I thought it shone through on this film more than any of the other two. There is literally no believable attraction between the two actors during the whole film. If the whole film was about Venom, I don't see why we had to wait an hour for him to show up, then only gave him a small fight sequence in the ultimate fight at the end. The special effects on h...Read more

WARNING: SPOILERS THROUGHOUT! SCROLL DOWN TO VERY BOTTOM TO SEE SPOILER-FREE REVIEW. Overall, this movie was ok. I'll have to watch it again at home to give my full review. Well, Pros: It has Spiderman, Venom, and keeps the line of the story pretty well. It doesn't add some lame bad guy, it keeps to the comic strips. The dialog is awesome, even FRIGGIN HILARIOUS at some parts. There's action, romance, emo hair, it's got it all. Then there's Venom. I honestly LOVED how they did the fangs, the screaming, the bell ordeal, and the whole "taking over" thing. Oh, and I love how Eddie got fangs too. I'm glad they waited until they had the technology to do it. I swear, though, if Venom is already frikkin dead, I'm gonna riot. And of course there's the waiter: Funniest character of the movi...Read more
