1 vote Spellbound seems almost quaint and naïve with its understandings and handlings of complicated psychological issues, and psychiatry as a whole. But that doesn’t prevent it from being a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging thriller from the master of that particular genre, Hitchcock. (No first name is necessary.) Luckily Hitchcock armed himself with two great actors for his lead roles, gave them a b... read more

1 vote Out of all the Hitchcock's I have yet to see, this was the one I most wanted to, if only for Salvador Dali's involvement (I'm a fan of his work, somewhat). Unfortunately, like Suspicion before it, this turned out to be a disappointment. It tries hard, but it's too talky, slightly melodramatic and could do with a considerable cut down in length, even if it is only about 110 minutes. On the plus sid... read more

1 vote I had actually already seen this flick but it was a while back so I thought it was time for a re-watch. Honestly, a movie about mental diseases and the psychiatric world directed by Alfred Hitchcock sounded great but, unfortunately, the whole thing was rather disappointing and it is not a match to the great flicks made by the master. The main issue is that even though the psychoanalysis elements w... read more

Movie Reviews (part 3) (50 movies items)" The Ups: Fascinating Hitchcock thriller with surrealistic dream landscapes from artist Salvador Dali. Ingrid Bergman is a great heroine. The excellent directed climax where the true killer points a gun at Bergman while she tries to talk her way out of the problem. The Downs: Gregory Peck, who unfortunately is the movie's weakest link as he wanders around with a empty gaze and a lack of personality. Year By Year Of My Favorite Flix (94 movies items)"Not exactly Hitchcock's best, but still, a terse psychological mystery thriller by the director who mastered that particular genre in the world of film, combined with a Dali-esque dream sequence by the painter who mastered that particular genre in the world of art.
