Spaceballs was the first Mel Brooks film I ever saw and it's long been one of my favourite parodies out there. Even just thinking about some of the lines in this movie makes me giggle. I grew up on the kind of movies Spaceballs is spoofing and I think that makes it even funnier. As the saying goes - it's funny 'cause it's TRUE! It amazes me how many laughs can be squeezed out of Spaceballs.

Mel Brooks has been making movies and parodies since the 60's and I've seen a lot of them and Spaceballs is the best. The story is that the leaders of planet Spaceball have wasted all their air and extorting all the air from their neighboring planet of Druidia. And to do so by kidnapping the princess of the planet, Princess Vespa. But she is rescued by Captain Lone Starr, who was hired by her father, before the Spaceballs capture her. And the rest of the movie has Lone Starr, Princess Vespa, her droid Dot Matrix, and Lone Starr's mawg, half man, half dog partner Barf trying to keep away from the Spaceballs and foil their plans.
