I really enjoyed this movie. I had no idea what it was about going into it, only that Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver were in it (so is Carrie-Anne Moss).

A well written story, excellently acted...it draws you in from the very start of the film and keeps you watching until the last sweet, and then amusing, scene.

A faceted Snow Flake.

A good movie

“It is definitely one of the best movies I have seen dealing with autism. This is a dear subject to me, as my son is autist and most of the movies about the subject don't deal correctly with this handicap (I barely can stand Rain man, for example). Anyway, this movie succeeds in portraying correctly an autist person and I was really impressed by Sigourney Weaver who pulls off an amazing performance. Unfortunately, the other sub-plots in the story are not as well developped but in spite of this flaws, I still found the whole movie very interesting. Definitely worth a look.” read more

“I don't really like watching films about mental illnesses. I watched this one only because of Alan Rickman. Love his acting, voice, mimics. And about the film. Well, it's not bad. Event touching, but a bit boring in some places. Although, it was a bit shocking to see how autism people are acting.” read more

"I loved how this movie handled the relationships of the characters. No cliched or hackneyed relationships, no sappy or last minute romance, no miracle worker, no "everyone takes care of the (autistic) main character." And yet this movie had a definite feel-good quality. But unlike most Hollywood tales, it is a genuine feeling-good. The main two characters are deep, their actors are skilled to say the least, and their ends are wrapped up in a pretty bow. Life continues for them after the fi"

Alan Rickman: Alex Hughes

Snow Cake is a tale of random lives thrown together, of fateful meetings that that are almost incommunicable with mere words, of the power of surreal bonds, of characters defying what is expected of themselves and sometimes of what they would expect of themselves, and of finding a strength inside.

Sigourney Weaver is from a different frame of mind, one not unlike our rational, emotional way. She's not fighting monsters from outer space this ” read more

Not knowing autists well, I can't say whether Weaver's performance is well-done, but it certainly looked decent enough to be believable.

Her character Linda is careful about being friends too quickly, she's independent but also dependent ("remember to take out the garbage!")... Alan Rickman is excellent as Alex, who is not as reserved as he seems in the beginning of the film.

Good script, good actors, good directing. A movie about people and life.<” read more
