A faceted Snow Flake.

''Being with you. Being with Linda. Being with myself again. Hey, and I'm having sex and these muffins are great. That sort of thing.'' A drama focused on the friendship between a high-functioning autistic woman (Weaver) and a man (Rickman) who is traumatized after a fatal car accident. Alan Rickman: Alex Hughes Snow Flake is a tale of random lives thrown together, of fateful meetings that that are almost incommunicable with mere words, of the power of surreal bonds, of characters defying what is expected of themselves and sometimes of what they would expect of themselves, and of finding a strength inside. Sigourney Weaver is from a different frame of mind, one not unlike our rational, emotional way. She's not fighting monsters from outer space this time or living in a strange...Read more

Comforting Indie-flick

Snow cake is a top-notch drama with some sad touching moments and light humour to keep you going. The film is quite thought provacative and it throws a quite down to earth character study of autism at us. The contrast between the three main characters is amazing and they work so well together. The opening and closing to this film are the strongest and most moving aspects of it as they both give great likeable characters to the audience and then pull them away from us. A well made and potrayed film dealing with how people cope with loss.

I really enjoyed this movie. I had no idea what it was about going into it, only that Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver were in it (so is Carrie-Anne Moss).

A well written story, excellently acted...it draws you in from the very start of the film and keeps you watching until the last sweet, and then amusing, scene.

Recently released from prison, Alex Hughes (Alan Rickman) picks up Vivienne Freeman (Emily Hampshire) along the road. An accident happens, in which Vivienne dies and Alex survives. Traumatized, he meets Viv's mother, Linda (Sigourney Weaver), a high-functioning autistic woman. This drama focuses on their friendship. Not knowing autists well, I can't say whether Weaver's performance is well-done, but it certainly looked decent enough to be believable. Her character Linda is careful about being friends too quickly, she's independent but also dependent ("remember to take out the garbage!")... Alan Rickman is excellent as Alex, who is not as reserved as he seems in the beginning of the film. Good script, good actors, good directing. A movie about people and life. I didn't know anythi...Read more
