This is an amazing film and I would recommend it to everybody. Set in black and white with splashes of colour this film tells Three overlapping stories.
What I will say is if you watch five minutes and don't really think you are enjoying it then carry on because trust me after about fifteen minutes you will be as hooked as I was.
The way the film is shot is brilliantl... read more

@ Severn; you prefer the way the story was told in the comic book medium? well I understand and respect that. I agree Miller's artwork is brilliant, I still prefer The Dark Knight Returns and especial
For my own part, I loved the movie. The fact that it was adapted from Miller's work, combined with actors that I love like Willis, Rourke, Dawson, Owen and, yes, Jessica Alba (whom I absolutely adore
That's a good point, but I prefer reading Sin City in a comic rather than watching it. As a movie, it feels dumb and overblown. But as a comic book, it works. To me at least. Then again, it's not exac
...But aren't they exactly the same? I'm not actually sure its possible to get closer to the source material. The movie is a word for word retelling of the ones Iv'e read.
“As a kid I had read a number of the original Sin City comics long before the movie came out. My opinion was that while Frank Miller’s monochromatic artwork was pretty amazing to say the story and character development was thin would be a grand understatement. While other comics of its time were evolving into a much more mature (which doesn't just mean all out violence and big titties, guys) and literary direction Sin City seemed content in living up to comic book stereotypes, not necessarily a bad thing but it did read kind of like a casual observer of the tradition may adjudge the way comics would be. And guess what? The movie ain't a whole lot different. In fact in terms of comic book adaptations this has to be the most faithful translation from page to screen there has ever been. Kin” read more
"Rewatch on the 16th.
Just a random rewatch of one of my favourite films! All the characters are amazing, Marv probably takes my favourite, such a bad ass character.
I need to get round to reading the comic some time soon and really can't wait for a the sequel this year!

“I am a huge comic fan, and like any comic fan we worry when we hear that a comic is turning into a movie, we tend to think really please don't stuff it up. Sin City the movie was not a stuff up, I think it helped that two great Directors where at the helm people that understood violence gore etc. The directors where Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, so you understand what I am talking about. I liked how they stuck to the black and white with a splash of color, and it kind of helps the gory scense as well. It kind of desensitised the gore a little, besides the violence and gore the story was great as well. The stories are from volume one to four of The Hard Goodbye, written by Frank Miller. So the movie is kind of like Pulp Fiction as in there are stories in stories, so you might have” read more

─ Marv : The night's as hot as hell. It's a lousy room in a lousy part of a lousy town - I'm staring at a goddess. She's telling me she wants me. I'm not going to waste one more minute wondering how I've gotten this lucky. She smells like angels ought to smell, the perfect woman... the Goddess. Goldie. She says her name is Goldie."
"Miller's comic book masterpiece is dark, brooding, epic, and most of all, bad-ass. Each of the three heroes are so tough, with Rourke leading the bunch (even though my favorite segment was the one with Willis). This is a great action film with some great, great action sequences and visuals, great heroes, and great villains. A true modern classic.
