"....around the old oak tree. If you notice that there's a lack of old skool westerns on this list, there's a reason for that. It's not because I have anything against any of the early B&W gunslingers or any of the John Wayne classics. It's just that it's been such a long time since I watched any of them, that I can barely remember which ones, let alone how any of 'em would rank on my list. One of the few that I have watched recently is Yellow Ribbon, & that's why it's one of the few cowboy fl"

Mustanaamio7's Movie Diary - Year 2011 (713 movies items)

"14.7. 2011 I'd say that "Fort Apache" is both the best and the only good film of John Ford's "Cavalry Trilogy". Just like "Rio Grande", also "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" is a dated and too slow-paced western with a pointless side plot that doesn't develop at all. Ford doesn't give viewers any reasons to care about the characters and also the battle scenes are lame. The last battle scene is ridiculous: It is a very short scene where the cavalry men just basically run through the Indian village and"

My Movie Diary 2011 (279 movies items)

"May 18 This is perhaps the Duke’s most enjoyable role—he gruffs, shouts, charges, jokes, laughs, and even cries. And when you have Victor Maclaglen as a sidekick, you have a hell of a movie. Following Custer’s last stand, Captain Nathan Brittles (Wayne) leads his men on a final run against the Cheyenne Indians before finally retiring. Indians…Buffaloes…Stampedeng horses…Monument Valley…director John Huston got most of the West in one movie."
