A moving and unexpected relationship develops between the avant-garde art dealer and the visionary cleaning lady leading to Séraphine’s work being grouped with other naïve painters—the so-called "Sacred Heart Painters"—with acclaimed shows in France, elsewhere in Europe and eventually at New York’s MOMA. First of all, I really enjoyed the directing, it gives a great mood. Then, Séraphine was a rather fascinating character thanks to the impressisve performance by Yolande Moreau. When I lived in France, she was famous as a comedian but she displays here some awesome acting chops. Unfortunately, I must say that from the moment she is discovered by Wilhelm Uhde, the story tends to drag a little bit. The point is that they either put to much or not enough attention on Uhde and the character is rather half-baked. Still, I am a sucker for movies dealing with Art, so I really enjoyed this flick and it is definitely worth a loo” read more
