"One would expect a holiday epic with a title like Santa Claus: The Movie. It implies something definitive, which would therefore put it in the canon of Christmas classics. However, this is definitely not the case.
- Ryan Cracknell, Movie Views
Little kids will like it, and, indeed, little kids will probably like most of this movie. The weakness is that larger kids and parents, deputized to escort the little ones, are likely to find a lot of it a little thin.

David Huddleston, "Santa Claus: The Movie." The title is a subtle clue that we're dealing with a film that's wholly on the big guy's side, and this one doesn't disappoint in that regard, giving us an origin story for Santa Claus. Unabashedly, defiantly old-fashioned at the time of its release, "Santa Clause: The Movie" is worth a look, with the Big Lebowski from "The Big Lebowski" as Santa and John Lithgow as an evil toy manufacturer. "I watched this movie as a child whether it was close to Christmas or not. It seems a little silly seeing it now, but I don't regret watching over and over as a kid.

"Santa Claus lives in the north pole and his workshop is a collection of dwarves, bright and shiny lights and colours and shapes which would make Salvador Dali feel dizzy.
John Lithgow wants to kidnap Santa and ruin everybody's favorite holiday (It would be a disaster that the rich children wouldn't get any presents from Santa on Christmas eve, don't you think? Fuck Jesus, go Santa!) because he was mistreated as a child.
At the end of the film,
