Apparently this film is based on the life of Augusten Burroughs, the author of the book "Running with Scissors". While I was not interested in the book, the movie was certainly enjoyable, but how much of it is really biographical... As Olivia says, it is "so unbelievable and yet so real". I really liked this movie. It is completely bizarre in a really enjoyable way. Annette Bening does an excellent job in her role, as do the other actors...but she stands out just a bit more than the others.

A movie you can laugh at, but which also has its sadder, more serious moments, this is a good film.

Well, basically...it just didn't work for me.

I usually like zany strange offbeat movies (Eternal Sunshine, Garden State, Lost in Translation), but this one just went a bit overboard.
