Rusty James, an absent-minded street thug struggles to live up to his legendary older brother's reputation, and longs for the days when gang warfare was going on.

Visually? Wow, Amazing. Acting? Yep, pretty damn good & I couldn't help but wonder what the hell Mickey Rourke did that's resulted in his not being a major star & only recently earning some respect. Story-wise it was OK, nothing I got overly excited about. I liked some of the ideas presented in the film, and could well relate to the big brother when his father says (and I'm paraphrasing here) that he could do anything he wants but doesn't have a clue what he wants to "

Being a young troubled idiot and all, I can 100 percent relate to this movie. Every person, no matter what age, is looking for something in life. Something to do, somewhere to go. But I think we young 'uns have it worse, there's too much instability and confusion all around.
The world also gets to be too much for Matt Dillon's thuggish character, Rusty James. He's a hoodlum who just wants to be like his cool older brother, the enigmatic Motorcycle Boy played by a pre plastic surgery Micke"

Netflix Instant Project 2013
February 1st: Instant watch, computer
Overall opinion: Very good
I was a little enchanted with Rumble Fish; I'm too used to stereotypes of 50's/60's gangs (thanks a lot Grease) and I didn't see where the story was going for quite a while. I didn't think I'd be emotionally interested but I was... it was tragic and I could feel for the characters. Wishing you could hold on to the ways of childhood, being overwhelmed by very adult problems, and feeling the world "

"No, your mother was not crazy and neither, contrary to popular belief, is your brother crazy - he's merely miscast in a play, he was born in the wrong era, on the wrong side of the river - with the ability to be able to do anything that he wants to do and finding nothing that he wants to do."

Wow! The movie is better than the book this time. I like how it's not just about the stuff that happened in the book and none of the characters are miscast. I usually don't care for Mickey Rourke, but so far this is the only movie where I like his performance. I loved this movie and I'm offically convinced that Matt Dillon is a good actor."
