This is a gorgeous French animated movie with romance, humor and avonture. It was made when there was still no computer animation... I thought the whole thing was just fascinating to watch and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in animated features.

"French animated feature 'The King and the Mockingbird' has a lengthy history and it is important to research before watching as there are several versions of the film. Begun in 1948, the definitive version of 'The King and the Mockingbird' was not released until 1980. Director Paul Grimault had the film taken out of his hands by his struggling studio, who released it unfinished in 1952 against Grimault's wishes. In the interim several versions of the film have been released, with title like 'The"

" What is it about? The story begins when one night the King's portrait comes to life and falls in love with the portrait of a shepherdess, who in turn loves the portrait of a chimney sweep next to her. The King's portrait kills the real king and pursues the fugitive star-crossed lovers, who use the Mockingbird's help to evade the dangers and obstacles on their path to freedom. The Top 70+ Animated Features (79 movies items)

" "The world exists! The Sun is shining! And there are birds!" - The blind man This movie’s production history was quite long – it began in 1948 and got released by someone as a 63-minute film in France and the US as The Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweep, based off on a Hans Christian Anderson story, or The Curious Adventures of Mr. Wonderbird, which is peculiar because he is just the comic relief of the film. This lead to the production coming to a halt. I watched Mr. Wonderbird, and I’m "
