In the third instalment of the Rocky franchise, life is peachy for the Heavyweight Champion of the world. With the title belt comes all the trappings of wealth, fame and success and Rocky is living the high life. The Stallion even manages to defend his title no less than ten consecutive times, before deciding to retire at the top of his profession.

But a young upcoming boxer has oth... read more

"I don't hate Balboa. I pity the fool, and I will destroy any man who tries to take what I got!"

Against all odds, 1976’s Rocky garnered three Oscars and earned in excess of $100 million at the domestic box office from a $1 million budget. Three years later, Rocky II grossed over $200 million worldwide from a similarly small budget. Considering the immense success of these movies,... read more

In many ways, I really wasn't sure what to expect out of this third Rocky film seeing as the first one is an absolute masterpiece and the sequel is almost as outstanding as its predecessor. However, even though I do think that the series should have ended at the end of the second film, I did really like this one. I mean, at the start of the film, this could have perhaps just ended as a trilogy but... read more

An average movie

“It has been a while since I watched this flick and I thought it was time for a re-watch, this time, with Nick my step-son. Honestly, it is not really a good movie and again a step down compared to its predecessor and even more from the classic first installment. The big difference is in the tone. Indeed, the first movies were actually dramas with a very few fighting scenes. Here, the focus was much more on the action scenes. As a result, for the kids, it is actually a more enjoyable installment. Indeed, the running time was shorter, there was the usual training montage and with 3 fighting scenes, there was barely anytime for any drama or character development (I'm pretty sure it is so far my step-son favorite installment). For example, even though Mr. T looked physically competent, his cha” read more

"The scenes surrounding the traumatic death of Rocky's (Sylvester Stallone) long-time, loyal trainer Mickey (Burgess Meredith) - during Rocky's defense of his title against James "Clubber" Lang (Mr. 'T') in Philadelphia in 1981. Even before the big contest, a name-calling brawl broke out between the two opponents as they approached the ring. Mickey was shoved aside by a charged-up and angry Lang and suffered a heart attack. As ailing Mickey was cared for in the dressing room, he urged Rocky to go"

"13.2. (DVD) Inhosin tätä keskivaihetta viime katselulla kuutisen vuotta sitten puolen tähden edestä, mutta eihän Tiikerinsilmä huumorintajun kehittymisen myötä enää niin huono olekaan. Syltty kantamassa harteillaan Hulk Hogania, juoksemassa rannalla liki käsi kädessä napapaitaisen Carl Weathersin kanssa tai kohtaamassa viimein himoitsemansa muppetit ovat jotain vielä unissaankin muistavaa. Eye of the Tiger on hieno biisi - ainakin tämän filmin taustalla. Rocky on jo kokenut "
