I think I saw it back then when I was a kid but after rewatching it yesterday, I'm not so sure. Anyway, I thought it was a decent sequel. Of course, since Paul Verhoeven is gone, it wasn't as good as the first installment but I thought they managed more or less to keep the tone right and the action scenes were not bad. The main issue here was that it was poorly written with too many undevelopped s... read more
Unknown to Robocop, the evil corporate empire which created him wants to take the city 'private,' and develop Robocop2, a newer, bigger, and more powerful version to replace the original.
"RoboCop: Thank you for not smoking.
RoboCop: Waste makes haste. For time is fleeting. A rolling stone is worth two in the bush.
Boy: Go fuck a refrigerator, pecker neck!
RoboCop: Bad language makes for bad feelings.
Magnavolt Salesman: MagnaVolt - The final word in auto security. No embarrassing alarm noise, no need to trouble the police... And it won't even run down your battery!

- Variety
The movie's screenplay is a confusion of half-baked and unfinished ideas.
- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
With its desensitizing blood lust, RoboCop 2 contributes yet another ugly note to this already demoralizing season of sadism.

Of course, since Paul Verhoeven is gone, it wasn't as good as the first installment but I thought they managed more or less to keep the tone right and the action scenes were not bad. The main issue here was that it was poorly written with too many undevelopped storylines (a police strike, a lethal drug, Robocop struggling with his past, Robocop being reprogrammed, an evil Robocop 2 built up,...). Furthermore, one of the druglord sidekick was a kid and there was no explanation whatsoever what was he doing here expect for adding some schocking value to the whole thing. Later on, they chose to give Robocop 2 the brain of a psychopath. Why?!? Of course, to p” read more
