An average movie

I think I saw it back then when I was a kid but after rewatching it yesterday, I'm not so sure. Anyway, I thought it was a decent sequel. Of course, since Paul Verhoeven is gone, it wasn't as good as the first installment but I thought they managed more or less to keep the tone right and the action scenes were not bad. The main issue here was that it was poorly written with too many under-developp... read more

"People want paradise, and they will have it."

Although sequels are usually perceived as worthless endeavours purely motivated by money, a follow-up to 1987's RoboCop made sense, as the flick introduced a richly-detailed world and a badass central hero, representing perfect fodder for future movies. "21/2 Huh. For like an hour I was convinced this movie is a lot better than people give it credit for. RoboCop becomes a silly goose, the villains are evil as hell and the action is plentiful enough. Then something happens, and by the time we reach that 20-minute stop motion robot fight, despite it still being really stupid, it just isn't very entertaining."

" RoboCop 2 is, completely unexpectedly, the sequel to the 1987 movie RoboCop. Based on the eponymous comic book series by Frank Miller, RoboCop 2 is a typically violent narrative involving a cyborg police officer in the future dystopian Detroit. Nathaniel White is a serial killer who went on a spree of assaults and killings whilst on parole in the early 1990’s. Although already a violent personality, White particularly savored the violence portrayed in the movie. He butchered his first victim,"

Although sequels are usually perceived as worthless endeavours purely motivated by money, a follow-up to 1987's RoboCop made sense, as the flick introduced a richly-detailed world and a badass central hero, representing perfect fodder for future movies. However, sequelising RoboCop was a tall order, as director Paul Verhoeven created an ultra-violent masterpiece that stands the test of time, and maintaining such quality would be borderline impossible. With Verhoeven not available for RoboCop 2, veteran director Irvin Kershner (The Empire Strikes Back) was recruited, while iconic graphic novel writer Frank Miller handled the screenplay. Despite the creative team change, the resulting flick feels like a surprisingly organic continuatio” read more

"11.7. Social commentary is still there and the ideas are still outrageous and fun (like the gangster kid, classic Frank Miller stuff). Fun movie but it doesn't have as gribbing emotional story as in the first one. Also the ending isn't as cool as in the first one."

My movie year 2013 (659 movies items)

"04/23/13 - The movie really tries to capture the essence of the original and while doesn't completely succeed, it's far from a failure. Apart from a plot that changes every 20 minutes it's a cool movie."

Films and the critics who hate them (743 movies items)

"RoboCop 2 is all machine, and it's all vile. - Peter Travers, Rolling Stone This ultraviolent, nihilistic sequel has enough technical dazzle to impress hardware fans, but obviously no one in the Orion front office told filmmakers that less is more. - Variety The movie's screenplay is a confusion of half-baked and unfinished ideas. - Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times With its desensitizing blood lust, RoboCop 2 contributes yet another ugly note to this already demoralizing season of sadism. -"
