''You are my dream.''

The hopes and dreams of four ambitious people are shattered when their drug addictions begin spiralling out of control.

Ellen Burstyn: Sara Goldfarb

From Darren Aronofsky, Requeim for a Dream is his most disturbing, most crushingly shocking work yet.
Ellen Burstyn is fantastic as the lonely Sara Goldfarb. Jared Leto, Jenni... read more

At the end of this film I was left pretty moved.

It's a really powerful piece of cinema. I'd only heard a few things about this movie and didn't really know what to expect, in fact, I really just watched it to see how good the soundtrack was. At the beginning I was fairly apathetic to at least two of the main characters, but as the film went on they all really grew on me. I guess I... read more

"Now we come to step three. This... drives... most... people... crazy."

Darren Aronofsky's Requiem for a Dream is intense, uncompromising, disturbing and depressing. It is a rare film that is emotionally fatiguing due to the unremittingly powerful portrayal of its subject matter. Writer/director Aronofsky deserves to be lauded for his representation of drugs and the consequences of ... read more

"Darren Aronofsky’s unsparing adaptation of Hubert Selby Jr.’s rough-edged tale of drug addiction finds seedy poetry in its Brooklyn locales: Brighton Beach has seldom seemed so hellishly sunbaked, Coney Island so unbearably decrepit and the Atlantic Ocean—an alluring nirvana—so entirely out of reach.—Keith Uhlich"

An Anti-Drug Masterpiece.

“I've seen this movie a long time ago, it was very disturbing to me and i wasn't able to sit through it entirely, i had to pause and go back after a while because it's shocking to say the least, so i didn't feel like i watched it the way it meant to be seen, that's why i watched it again, and now i can safely say that it's Darren Aronofsky's best work to date, and easily a disturbing masterpiece.

The movie addresses drug addiction like no movie ever before, never seen a movie that actually made me sick to my stomach, it's an idea that you have to live with far after the movie ends. the intensity of the movie is very shocking that you can't escape from. you can't not engage in the movie, because it's right in your face. the movie is at that level of disturbance never achieved befor” read more

“Yes this movie is about drug use, but in the end it is also about destroyed lives, and what people would do to continue their addiction. The movie at times is a big fat blur, but it is seen through the drug users eyes. For me I thought it was an excellent film, the ending was stomach turning but it is reality which at times can be stomach turning. Ellen Burstyn I thought stole the show, as the mother and the end for her was the most saddest. All the stars did a good job, Darren Aronofsky did a fantastic job with this movie. The movie is trippy gritty and hard hitting, with some scenes that make you want to throw up but a movie that is worth watching.” read more

"December 4 Some say this movie is overrated, but so far I think this is Aronofsky's best. This film is hard to watch, but that's the point. I don't know how anyone could not find the ending disturbing. Very depressing and powerful movie."
