"We've become a race of Peeping Toms. What people ought to do is get outside their own house and look in for a change. Yes sir. How's that for a bit of homespun philosophy?"

Rear Window is an undemanding lesson in accomplishing perfection from simplicity. This classic film was the creation of Alfred Hitchcock during one of his last grand creative spells. In the years to follow, the ... read more

It is rather surprising that, even though I am a massive movie buff and even though I have seen nearly 40 movies directed by Alfred Hitchcock (more than any other director), somehow, I still hadn’t watch this one which obviously belongs to his numerous classics. Well, even though I thoroughly enjoyed it, I must admit it, I thought I was slightly disappointing. The point is that I wanted to watch... read more

Description: The weather is getting hotter, and photographer Jefferies (Jimmy Stewart) is stuck in his apartment with a broken leg and nothing to do--that is, nothing to do but spy on his neighbors through their open windows across the way in the apartment complex. There's an attractive and scantily clad dancer, a songwriter, a lonely woman, and the Thorwalds, a bickering couple, among others. But when Mrs. Thorwald disappears, Jefferies is sure that something's wrong. Soon, despite the warnings of his girlfriend, Lisa (Grace Kelly), and his motherly nurse, Stella (Thelma Ritter), Jefferies has out his binoculars and telephoto lens and is st ... (more)

100 Greatest Golden Age Hollywood Films (100 movies items)

"With 'Rear Window', Alfred Hitchcock combined all the elements that made him a great director into one perfect picture. The playful wit, the technical mastery, the nail-nibbling suspense, the genuine sense of building terror. It's all here. The tale of a professional photographer who develops an unhealthy habit of spying on his neighbours while recovering from a broken leg, 'Rear Window's major trump card is a terrific piece of set design by Hal Pereira and Joseph Macmillan Johnson who spent six"

Movie Reviews (651-700) (50 movies items)

" The ultimate voyeur movie. Grace Kelly was at the height of her career as the girlfriend of (always excellent) James Stewart who observe a possible murder by his neighbor. Hitchcock has probably never been better with this film where every window tells different stories and he has gotten the film shot and edited marvelously. One of the true greats of American cinema. It is nothing here to complain about and my eyes are fixed constantly on the screen. If ever a word should be used called "master"
