If you're looking for a teen girly movie, go ahead. This one is another story about how you should follow your heart instead of just do what everybody else says you should do (then you'll find your true love and you'll live happily ever after). And there's no problem, except for the fact that it's supposed to be The Princess Diaries' sequel.
Ok, book adaptations can't be exactly like the book, but this movie simply uses the characters to tell a completely new story. The actor who played Michael, Mia's boyfriend, in the first movie didn't want to work in this one, 'cause he was on tour with his band (Rooney). And they use this exactly excuse to explain why the character isn't in the story anymore.
Anyway, after breaking up with her boyfriend 'cause he went on tour with his band, and being a college graduate, Mia goes to Genovia and finds out that she needs to get married or she won't be able to succeed her grandmother as the Queen of Genovia. The movie shows the search for a husband and Lord Devereaux's (another heir to the crown) plans to steal the crown.
