Premonition (2007)

Saturday Nights always brings a host of new films onto Sky Movies. I usually put one of my weekend days aside to make time to watch these films. Premonition is a borderline fantasy/sci-fi film with a mysterious and engaging plot. Although it is literally explained throughout the days what is going on. I found it quite exciting to take each day as they came about. The beef of story is set over 7 days in a crucial week for Sandra Bullock's character. However, they aren't in order! Mindfuck! Linda (SB) is the only person aware of this causing most of the friction and revelations with the other characters. This film could have been much better. There were no cool plot twists, or any suspense moments. The plot was just very predictable. It is not horrible. I enjoyed a lot of it. But it was just very repetitive.

that is why I give this film, a "6", out of 10.

...is in the gag reel in the DVD extras. If I had seen this in the theater, I would've been more than irritated.

It's slow, and almost seems like a combination of "Groundhog Day" and "The Lake House." Throw in a little "Memento" and you get the idea. The problem is that it's not nearly as good as any of the three. Disappointing, but checked off in my list of movies I don't need to see again.

Housewife Linda Hanson (Sandra Bullock) is married to Jim (Julian McMahon), has 2 daughters (Shyann McClure and Courtney Taylor Burness), and her best friend Annie (Nia Long). Linda, one day, wakes up and gets the news that Jim is dead. She wakes up the next morning to find him alive. She decides to investigate what is happening, to try and prevent her husband's death. Not exactly fast-paced, and certainly not the greatest thriller/suspense movie, this isn't Bullock's best either! It is however refreshing to see McMahon in a movie rather than his usual Nip/Tuck series. The kids are not well cast - neither of them look like Sandra or Julian. The ending IS a disappointment.
