What a supreme flick! Even after 20 years, this film still holds its ground against the action 'titans' of today. An absolutely outrageous, over muscled, gung-ho, special forces military team are sent into the rainforests of South America to rescue a missing US Chopper. 'Cept not being able to save the personnel of the downed craft, the mission goes perfectly. However, they are being observed by a... read more

Another one of Arnie's finest. Predator has a simple yet unforgetable storyline with some of the biggest on-screen bad asses of the 80's. The film is raw carnage mixed with pellucid testosterone from the start. Some of the finest cinematic quotes from my youth were spawned from this film. It is an action film that can also serve as a comedy at times thanks to some of the completely over-the-top in... read more

" I've seen both this film and it's sequel not that long ago, but felt that another viewing was in order for both before I made my final judgments on either. As before, I thoroughly enjoyed this film, although I do find it slightly overrated. It has several problems, including an un-even balance between the Sci-Fi/Horror and Action movie aspects. It's also much better at being an action film than it is a horror film. Some of the kill scenes are very clumsily handled, although they still work. T"

A classic

“This is yet another milestone of 80's action movie mayhem and when I was a kid, I really loved this flick. Indeed, when I was about 12 years old, I started to watch movies on my own and my first passion were action flicks. I used to watch tons of them and this one was definitely one of my favorites at the time. Basically, it was another badass action flick starring Arnold Schwarzenegger but the real brilliant touch was to combine a rather straightforward action flick with some science-fiction elements resulting in a very entertaining mix. To be honest, nowadays, I think it is a little too cheesy for my taste and the characters, even though they were totally badass, were seriously stereotypical and barely interesting. Still, there were so many things to enjoy here. Indeed, the music and th” read more

" Well, this is one of the best fucking things ever committed to celluloid. A helicopter full of these huge behemoths is something to behold, and it definitely helps that the script is so razor-sharp. Literally, every line here is fucking gold. Hawkins trying to make Billy laugh with his pussy joke. Blain chewing tobacco and chastising his companions for turning the stuff down, saying it'll turn them into a "goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus". And Poncho retorting "Yeah, strap this on your "sore ass"

“Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Major Dutch Schaeffer the commander of a special forces unit with stars like Sonny Landham (Billy), Jesse Ventura (Blain), Richard Chaves (Poncho), and Bill Duke (Mac). Dutch’s team is called in by Major George Dillon (Carl Weathers) for a rescue operation that takes place in the harsh jungles of South America. While the mission goes smoothly for the most part other then a battle with a small army in the jungle. The group quickly finds themselves being hunted down by an unknown enemy and being picked off one by one. Till only Schwarzenegger is the last one left and him and the Predator have a Epic showdown at the end.

“Some say this is the manliest film ever; well as a female I loved this movie. I think Predator is not just for men, a lot of women liked it as well. Predator is a well put together sci-fi action flick, it is not about the acting so don’t expect Oscar winning performances here. It has your cheesy one liners, your macho attitude and one ugly mother%$^er of an alien, who comes to town and likes to hunt humans. For an 80’s movie, it brought new style of filming to cinema and like aliens used real actors to portray the aliens which is what I think really helps a film. It makes it more real, sometimes CGI can backfire so more realistic they can make something the better. This is a good stand alone action, with a very good storyline and a very cool alien.” read more

50 Most Depressing Happy Endings (51 movies items)

"The Happy Ending: Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) outsmarts the Predator and traps it after a fist fight. Then blows the sucker to smithereens. The Depressing Implications: So there’s no trace of the Predator left. How on Earth is Dutch going to explain all the deaths in the jungle to his superiors without ending up in a mental asylum and/or jail? "

“The most manliest film in the world, directed by the only director to have had 3 successful back-to-back outings, and lead by cinema's most quotable action hero. So, what do you get? You get Predator. The 80's, *sigh*, the best decade for action movies. Now it's all CGI. Back in the 80's, every director's aim was to create the best action film on the market, ranging from the all-too-realistic Rambo to the implausible - but enjoyable - Commando to the legendary Terminator. Fast-forward 20 years and we get directors trying to prove just how much they can make a film squeal like a pig by (mostly) pointless CGI, cliche moments and sub-par script, ranging from the Men in Black sequels to Transformers to Skyline to pretty much every blockbuster released in the past 5 or 6 years.
