The content is simple enough: Madame Pujol is a „potiche“, a trophy wife, to a husband who runs an umbrella factory in provincial France. The workers are dissatisfied, so they go on strike, much to Monsieur Pujol’s dismay. When he is, after having been held hostage by his workers in hospital for some time, his wife runs the show – and does so very well.

The workers are dissatisfied, so they go on strike, much to Monsieur Pujol’s dismay. When he is, after having been held hostage by his workers in hospital for some time, his wife runs the show – and does so very well.

With the plot come stylized, but funny and satiric characters along with some nice subtle and comical twists. Much as in 8 Women, Ozon presents a light, but well thought through comedy, with limited musical acts. So if you enjoyed “8 women”, you’ll like “Potiche”. Recommended.
