A good movie

Since I’m a huge fan of Clint Eastwood’s work, of course, I was really eager to check his directing debut. So, that’s where it all started for him, at least, as far as you consider his career as a director. You can guess that, at the time, the studios thought that Eastwood was just another actor who wanted to pretend to be a director and since he was a huge star, they thought they should giv... read more

Description: Disc jockey Dave Garver attracts the amorous attentions of a demented fan named Evelyn Draper. Evelyn lets Dave pick up at a bar; later at her apartment, Evelyn admits that she is the cooing caller who repeatedly asks Dave to play the Erroll Garner classic "Misty." From then on, the film is a lesson in how one casual date ca ... (more)

A good movie

“Since I’m a huge fan of Clint Eastwood’s work, of course, I was really eager to check his directing debut. So, that’s where it all started for him, at least, as far as you consider his career as a director. You can guess that, at the time, the studios thought that Eastwood was just another actor who wanted to pretend to be a director and since he was a huge star, they thought they should give him his wish but they didn’t pay much attention to the end-result. They were not the only ones though as it took about 20 years before Clint Eastwood was taken really seriously as a director. Anyway, how was this directing debut? To be honest, it was a decent flick but still nothing really great though. I mean, it felt like an obvious warm-up for Eastwood who was basically playing around with ” read more

Anautix' Movie Diary 2014 (197 movies items)

"04.01.2014 I know it's a classic, some even say it was ahead of its time. But for me it was a below average romantic thriller that partly felt (unintentionally) like a comedy or a parody of a thriller. Most Hitchcock movies are more thrilling. I also didn't like the soundtrack (except the deadly song "Misty"). But I liked to see Eastwood in one of his earlier films."

"Back in 1971, Clint Eastwood premiered the first Diry Harry flick & began his tour de force as the infamous magnum welding S.F. cop with a message to all the law-unabiding "punks" out there....that he's mad as hell and he's not gonna take it anymore! Well, that same year, Evelyn Draper came along in Play Misty For Me & showed all the men that not only is she also mad, but more importantly, she's crazy as hell and she's not gonna be scorned anymore, Clint! " Cast : Clint Eastwood What was it about? A brief fling between a male disc jockey and an obsessed female fan takes a frightening, and perhaps even deadly turn when another woman enters the picture. My two cents: So, that’s where it all started. You can guess that, at the time, the studios thought Eastwood was just another actor who wanted to play the director and since he was a huge star, they thought they should give him his wish but they didn’t pay much attention to the end-result. Too Young For Heart Attacks: Don't show your kids (13 movies items)

"This movie is really not a horror movie. Actually, it's a pretty decent relationship thriller starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. But when you're no more than 5, it's a terrifying experience in being extremely afraid. There's screaming, blood, knife attacks... stuff kids just aren't ready for. "
