The original Planet of the Apes is an ambitious and thought-provoking science fiction film most remembered for Charlton Heston's theatrical performance. Even by today's standards it still holds its own and I couldn't think of any reason why it might need to be remade, but with Tim Burton in charge - what could possibly go wrong?

I have actually seen this movie but it was already more than 10 years ago when it was released. Back then, there was huge buzz about this flick. Good review. I never cared for this remake that much neither. My uncle was a background extra in this movie though.

"1.3.2013 There were few good things about this Planet of the Apes-remake and those were: Tim Roth's idea of villainous acting (which means being angry 24/7 and growling a lot), Michael Clarke Duncan's voice, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa looking grim and sour even with the ape-mask on and also, Wahlberg, but only at times and even then only because he seems to be so confused and lost as hell. Otherwise it's all bad, with maybe the most useless side-characters ever and the most stupid jokes ever invented"

"7 STARS vs 9 STARS I'm not crazy about Wahlberg as an actor but he has improved over time. It doesn't surprise me that someone finally took a stab at revisiting this franchise. It was one of the most popular from the 70's, after all. I can remember lunch boxes and dolls and games, etc...all over the place when I was a kid. The makeup and effects for the newer model were, honestly, fantastic. The fight scenes were good, too. That's it though. The original had a vibe and a mystique that is sore"
