But, even really quality movies that follow this theme, no matter how good they are, the concept of feminine mental illness is done with the typical over-the-top Hollywood flair.

It's tough to say why, but I found this movie very unsettling. It freaked me out for a few hours after I watched it. It's also very beautiful and hypnotic. Set in 1900 in Australia, a bunch of school girls and a teacher from a private school go missing during a picnic. The rest of the movie deals with the fallout of their disappearance.
Almost every frame of the picnic is amazing to watch. You could take any frame and it would make a great picture. The direction and composition"
