A funny thing happened on the way to Philadelphia...
I saw this film back in '93 with a friend who was pushing for the hard-sell on Hanks. You see, I wasn't anything resembling a fan of his before this; in fact, I hated him. Well, not literally. Notable drama from director Jonathan Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs") which tells the story of a young lawyer prestigious and is fired when contracting AIDS, but the reasons do not seem entirely clear.

extremely touching movie - deals with the whole sensitive issue very well. The Springstein song on the OST was the track of 1993 - whole video is at the end of the film titles.

To this day I can hardly think of this film without getting a lump in my throat. You are correct. It's brilliant on so many levels and should be required viewing.
