Absolutely terrific. One of the most gripping, engaging and engrossing films I've seen in a while and it's a great shame that Brando never directed again (I'm not sure how much input Kubrick had on this film however), as he clearly could have had a successful career as a director. Brando is reunited again with Karl Malden as a pair of bandits who, whilst in Mexico, are chased into the wild plains ... read more
So, "Unforgiven" was inspired heavily by this Western starring and directed by Brando (who took the reins from Stanley Kubrick). The parallel scenes are many: the whipping, the hero recuperating outside town, and even bad guy Malden promising, "I see you again, I'm gonna shoot you down like a dog!"-like speech. However, "One Eyed Jacks" which tells the story of bank robber Rio (Brando) who gets ev... read more

I'd never heard of this until I came across Mr. Saturn's Quentin Tarantino's Favorite Films list, after which I added it (and several other films) to my IQ. It's an excellent revenge film, one that doesn't take the expected route to its obvious conclusion. The acting is excellent across the board & Brando is captivating every moment he's on screen. I really dug the story & there are some really great moments along the way. I personally thought the love story side"

One-Eyed Jacks is one of my favorite films of all time. Number one: spectacular performances. And a great script: the idea of the thing was great. It was really a character piece, and every character was breathtakingly wonderful. The casting was amazing, the costumes were great, the dialogue was fucking wonderful. Particularly "You great gob of spit!"
It was truly mythic as well, that one. And the sense of contrasts: this great bulk of Brando there, and the girl, Pina Pellicer, the most delica"
"2.2.

Brando: Bnbnnnnn bbnnnnbmnmmmnn mmnnmmmb"

"Brandon yritelmä ohjata eeppistä westerniä on harmillisen puisevaa seurattavaa.

However, "One Eyed Jacks" which tells the story of bank robber Rio (Brando) who gets even with his partner (Malden) who betrayed him some years ago splits between a revenge tale and a love story. You can't keep a good love story away from old Westerns. And in any good ole tale of payback, romance always gets in the way of momentum. Still, Brando is a capable director and this is a better made Western than most.” read more
