"Having liked Walter Salles' The Motorcycle Diaries back in the day, I secretly hoped that On the Road would not prove to be the disaster it looked on paper. Well, the good news is, it's not a disaster, but nor does it capture any of Kerouac's hectic, maniacal presence as a writer.
