The story uncovered the real life hardships of women trying to earn a living in a male dominated environment, and for that I appreciate this film. However, Charlize Theron is a bit overrated and her performance shows it. Frances McDormand steals the spotlight.

When this movie came out, it was fairly unnoticed but I think it's pity since it is actually a pretty good flick. It is not a very original story but it is still a very well made and strong drama. Once again, Charlize Theron provides a very good perfomance as a white trash woman (since 'Monster', it seems it has become a speciality for her) and she is surrounded by a very good supporting cast. " Ah yes, one of those "inspired by a true story" movies. Well, this happens to be a fairly solid one, featuring a number of fairly solid performances.
