"13/4/17 Tom Ford's stylish thriller with Amy Adams as a woman who receives a manuscript from her ex-husband that tells the story of a brutal event. Exceptional performances all round and the film is crafted within an inch of its life, it sat very uncomfortably with me and it certainly was a case of style over substance. Adams and the unrecognisable Aaron Taylor-Johnson were superb."

"Michael Shannon was great once again. Also Aaron Taylor-Johnson was good in the role and creepy too. Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams were good too. The novel's story was the most interesting and overshadowed the rest a little bit."

"7 / 10 - I thought I was never going to make it. This movie is quite dark but it is exquisite with great casting and aesthetic. I love Jake and Amy's perfomance, they are one of my favourite actors and they've proved to be great in this one. Their sensibility and powerful acting is just breathtaking. You can't stop suffering from all the emotions they bring together. It touches you deeply. I really surprisingly liked the movie even though I found it a bit slow."

Predicting the Winners of the 2017 Oscars (21 movies items)

"And the nominees are... *Mahershala Ali- Moonlight *Jeff Bridges- Hell or High Water/b> *Lucas Hedges- Manchester by the Sea/b> *Dev Patel- Lion *Michael Shannon- Nocturnal Animals And the Oscar goes to... Ali looks pretty strong here. After winning the SAG, and giving a pretty memorable speech, he's got the actors, and the only, seeming, competition he really had (Aaron Taylor-Johnson won the Golden Globe for Nocturnal Animals) didn't even get nominated. Patel did win the BAFTA, and the BA"

My Movie Diary 2017 (217 movies items)

" 14 January. Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals is a heavy one. It gives new meaning to the word revenge. A visually intoxicating movie that shouts greatness but is also hard to embrace which makes it a modern noir unlike any other. Whether that's a good thing or not, the movie challenges, and the performances are gripping. A cult movie waiting for its time. "

Nocturnal Animals

“Tom Ford’s directorial debut, A Single Man, was an emotionally engrossing story told with visual flourish and a series of strong, effecting performances. Something similar could be said about his follow-up, Nocturnal Animals. While his debut was a beautiful film, this one is aesthetically beautiful while surrounding a pulpy, trashy narrative. Your mileage for vary for the grotesquery and emotional evisceration on display, but I think of this as a minor trashterpiece. Maybe even a major one if I revisit in a few years.   There’s a few timelines going on here, two happening in reality, and the third a meta-narrative of one character’s book-within-the-film. There’s the present time, where Susan Morrow (Amy Adams) is trapped in a crumbling marriage (to Armie Hammer), and deeply unsa” read more

30 Favorite Films of 2016 (30 movies items)

"Well, here's another film that makes the thought of being in a relationship terrifying. Tom Ford's follow up to A Single Man, Nocturnal Animals is a huge step forward for the fashion-designer-turned-filmmaker. Initially, I felt that maybe it was a case of style over substance, until a second viewing showed just how complex and devilishly intense it actually is. A piercing, brutal, and bitter exploration of cruelty in relationships. How certain decisions we make, especially when it involves anoth"
