The mix of stop-motion and live-action is great, the feeling of the movie is kind of dark and surreal which I like, I have always seen Alice as something dark and bizarre, so this movie really fits in my conceptions.
Altough I particulary do not really like Jan Svankmajer's style, I think he had a really wonderful vision about Alice in this movie, like she's the one who does the puppe... read more
Because this movie is about Alice in Wonderland, I first thought to watch it with my kids... Fortunately, I ended up watch it on my own but I guess it would have been a little much for them... A very weird picture with some very nice animation. I liked it but it is an acquired taste.
Description:A memorably bizarre screen version of Lewis Carroll's novel 'Alice in Wonderland', mixing one live actor (Alice) with a huge variety of sinister animated puppets, ranging from the complex (the White Rabbit) to the incredibly simple (the Caterpillar, consisting of a sock, a couple of glass eyes and a pair of false teeth). The original story is followed reasonably faithfully, though those familiar with this director's other films won't be the least bit surprised by the numerous digressions into Svankmajer territory, living slabs of meat and all. As the opening narration says, it's a film made for children... perhaps?... (more)(less)

Yup it still was creepy and a little disturbing, but it was also really enjoyable. I was super impressed by its impressive and innovative visuals. My favorite scenes were Alice getting alternatingly big and small, which happened a couple times, and I thought they"

First off, this could also have gone in the Netflix Exorcisms section of this list, but since VierasTalo recommended it for the Netflix project I felt it was best to put it here.
I absolutely LOVED the animation throughout this film. Such a unique version of Alice in Wonderland that I feel does more service to the source material than most adaptations have (well, from the few I've seen anyway), and there were many times when I sat in awe of the puppets & scenes Jan Sva"

Note: This was pretty strange and I did like it how wired it was. I like all of the stop motion and it was really well done. I like how everything and looked in this movie. The movie was pretty boring sometimes, but I'm glad that I watched this version of Alice in Wonderland. "
