National Treasure (2004)

There are some things in life that equate to common knowledge: The sky is blue, the grass is green, the sun is hot and Nicolas Cage can't act. Taking that into account should be enough to ensure that you never have to sit through this utterly disgraceful excuse for a film. It isn't one of those hilarious action films that is worthy of the title 'so bad it's good', it's just all bad. Nic Cage is utterly unconvincing as a) an intelligent human being and b) an expert problem solver and thus when you see him de-crypt a clue that has puzzled ancient scholars for centuries in the space of about 30 seconds, you can't help but shed a tear of shame and embarassment. What utter drivel! The DVDs should be collected and thrown into the sea. My time could have been better spent putting needles in my eyes.

This movie has the most far fetched and ridiculous plot ever concocted. The Cage/Kruger love interest is tenious at best and the psuedo science/theology spewed by Nic Cage is laughable. Sean Bean is the only notable addition to this film, in which Bean somehow avoids being dragged down by the raging black hole that is Nicolas Cage.

I only watched the entire film in the vain hope that the ending would be interesting..I was dissapointed. Like a 5mph Roller Coaster, this film is pointless and nothing like it promises to be. A poor man's DaVinci Code.
