Nader and Simin are a couple married for 14 years. But there is a problem. Simin insists on moving abroad but Nader cannot as his father has Alzheimer's syndrome. Thus Simin decides to separate from him and take her 11 year old daughter with her. Nader refuses the divorce and plainly ignores the problem as he knew she would never leave.
