Most of the movies I saw in my childhood were action movies. I remember the days when I used to fast-forward the films on my VCR(!) to the action sequences. Once the scene would appear, I would record it with my father's mobile and then enjoy it later to my heart's content. The Matrix, Terminator, Die Hard, Street Fighter, Kung Fu Hustle, you name it. You know the trailers they used to show just b... read more
Amazingly, Paul W. S. Anderson manages to take a script (which he once again didn't have to bother coming up with) and not ruin it completely for the fans of the original idea. I never liked the Mortal Kombat games, they were always too slow and too bulky, but the film is anything but.
With some fairly decent kung fu fights and a pulsating soundtrack, this film is a winner. Fans of... read more
Mortal Kombat was a breath of fresh air after the appalling Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros. adaptations as it was a video game movie that ACTUALLY FOLLOWED THE ORIGINAL SOURCE MATERIAL! Aside from that, the plot moves at a brisk pace and never leaves your head filled with so many questions, the characters reflect their original counterparts very well, the cast is spot-on and do a great job (e... read more
Three martial artists travel to a mysterious island and fight to the death against a demon sorcerer and his warriors for the fate of mankind in an ancient tournament held once a generation.
"Liu Kang vs Ryu
Two great martial artists game characters Liu Kang and Ryu would be a great battle. They have similar fighting and can both shoot fireballs from their hands. It would be a death match to the end."

I actually think this movie is underrated, it gets a lot of low ratings here on Listal, and to be perfectly honest, a lot of them seem biased, the movie actually stays true to the source material, the
I always find the first MK movie to be somewhat overrated. I noticed a lot of people in my age group (20 - 25) love it, but I don't think it's that great of a film. The acting sucks, the CG is awful e

Haha. Yep, this is one film I liked less the last time I watched it. The fight scenes are well choreographed which helps the film be entertaining, but overall it's pretty bad. Sad to say it was one of

You know the trailers they used to show just before a presentation, with a deep baritone voice narrating? That's how I was introduced to this film, by that voice... and the music in the background.
Anyway, when I was young of course the film was awesome, but now that I've grown up, and matured along the way, I found out that the film starts off quite smartly but descends into the same old, same old - mindless action, funny dialogue” read more

Check out my review:

Robin Shou was convincing and at ease in his role as Liu Kang, the main protagonist. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa was - I'm in the minority here - awesome in his role as Shang Tsung, the main antagonist. It's funny that his one-expression face hasn't garnered any memes yet. And the population is usually so quick on this. Anyway, an entertaining performance. The number of emotions / expressions Bridgette Wilson managed to cram in was quite "

"We got a guy with things comin' out of his hands, we got another guy who freezes stuff, and then there's a man, who as far as I can tell, is made out of electricity. I mean, how did he disappear like that? What is goin' on here? WHO IS THIS GUY?"

Maybe the first time I was excited and satisfied about a movie adaptation of something I like. I still think it's the best movie based on a video game (though I haven't seen all of them).
What makes it more interesting than an averag"

Elokuvan ensemble cast (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Christopher Lambert, Linden Ashby, Trevor Goddard) innostuttaa aluksi aivan täysillä. Harmitta"
