Amazingly, Paul W. S. Anderson manages to take a script (which he once again didn't have to bother coming up with) and not ruin it completely for the fans of the original idea. I never liked the Mortal Kombat games, they were always too slow and too bulky, but the film is anything but.

With some fairly decent kung fu fights and a pulsating soundtrack, this film is a winner. Fans of the Street Fighter game would have killed to have a movie this impressive made about that game. It's everything the street fighter film should have been and more, but let's not talk about the sequels...

It's not amazing, spectacular or life affirming, but it will certainly do as a fighting game adaptation.
