""Once there was a man whose prison was a chair. The man had a monkey, they made the strangest pair. The monkey ruled the man, it climbed inside his head. And now as fate would have it, one of them is dead.""
"A befuddled story about a man constrained from the neck down told by a director confused from the neck up.

Somewhere within this movie's two hours or so is hidden an absolutely spellbinding 90-minute thriller.
- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
A film that begins in sentimentality and ends in ludicrous melodrama.
- Caryn James, New York Times"
George Romero's Monkeys Shines: An Experiment in Fear never had a chance to be good. A movie about a murderous helper monkey is not something people would buy in to. No matter how good the writer, director or actors are. Even if that murder monkey is super intelligent and feeds off its owner's anger.
The weirdest thing about Monkey Shines is the first half wants to be an emotional drama about a man's struggle to accept his paraplegia and how his life changes when he gets this helper monkey. "

Thanks for all the recent votes on my Eco-Terror Films list. Reminded me that this might be worth a re-watch.
OMG, I had forgotten how much I loved this film. What might seem tacky or outdated... is just hysterical. I found it difficult to not burst out laughing several times.
But seriously, psychotic killing monkey... where can I get one!"
