"2/25/13 Rewatch This is not only one of the best films of the 80's but one of the best films period and a highlight of both Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe's careers. It's troubling subject matter isn't turned away from or looked at peripherally...it's stared down straight on. The pair portray FBI agents sent to a little Mississippi town to investigate the disappearance of three civil rights activists (two white and one black).
