Another one of these movies... Damn. They're always the same as far as plot development and such go. It all starts off the same: A group of badly charecterised people go into a A) deserted house in the middle of nowhere, B) deserted island in the middle of nowhere, C) space ship or a station in the middle of nowhere, and they get killed one by one. I don't see how it's supposed to be exciting, but since they still make flicks like this, I suppose it is. So, as you propably could already tell, the character development in this flick is terrible. We don't really get anything out of anyone up until the final twenty minutes, when we find out something "shocking" about one of the people on the island. And no, I am not talking about the killer. "Here we are. Crimetown USA. Where all the residents are dead... or about to be." Mindhunters is one of Renny Harlin's newest films. The director is perhaps comprehensively acknowledged for his action movies: in the 1990s, audiences witnessed such films as The Long Kiss Goodnight, Cliffhanger and Die Hard 2 (debatably his best film). Unfortunately, the director has seen better days. The director has seen some real stinkers, for example Deep Blue Sea and Cutthroat Island. The remaining fans of the director probably had their hopes set pretty high for this film. In traditional Renny Harlin style the film is exceedingly entertaining, but contains a fairly preposterous set of events. "Mindhunters" tells the story of several FBI Agents that go on a training mission on a deserted island to see if they have what it takes. At first, the mission is normal. With practice objectives, and obstacles. There is only one thing. Are these small objectives and occurences actually just training? the answer is no, they are not. This film is filled with so many twists and turns it boggled my mind. First I thought these weird happenings were part of the training process, then I thought differently. I just kept changing my mind, and the film was really making me think. At first it was confusing, but when I got further through the film it got highly entertaining to watch, and I was really enjoying it. The premise of this movie is interesting - however, the movie overall kind of falls flat. It IS watchable, but the group of profilers-in-training are supposed to be a promising group of individuals - special, better than the others. Yet, not one of them is able to figure out the pattern behind the killings until late in the game. Mistrust quickly builds among a group who know each other quite well, but it's not well played. A group of people who are being trained to solve puzzles and profile killers can't even catch on - even a little bit - to what's happening to them until a number of them have become victims. Entertaining at best, but I expected more from the star-studded cameos. Christian Slater first to go? really? Plot twists until the end, but it didn't hold up as well as it could have.

Final destination rip-off gorefest, where one character after another die, and each die in a gruesome way. It had potentail until all the plot holes and ridiculous killings started occuring. Take the first killing, for example. These are all FBI trainees that are all supposed to be ultra-smart, yet they just bust into a room, and then they all watch like deer-in-headlights as they follow a domino that got trigger by door being open, and after a long drawn out domino-effect of contraptions, the end results is it triggers a nitro cylinder to shoot and bust into Christian Slater, killing him off. That's when i knew this movie was going to be 100% garbage. Come on, a room full of FBI geniuses, and not one of them looks ahead to see where domino ends, or tries to stop the domino effect? ...Read more
