"Tell Leo he's not God on the throne, he's just a cheap political boss with more hair tonic than brains."

Miller's Crossing is an outstanding gangster drama made prior to the Coen Brothers developing into a massive household name. Even in their early days, the duo consisting of Joel and Ethan Coen could produce movies executed with articulate cinematography, witty dialogue and suspe... read more

The Coen's strike gold..... Again!

Just the 3rd film conceived by the Coen brothers, Miller’s Crossing was just the beginning of what is now quite a legendary career for these two. Like almost every film of theirs, Miller’s Crossing is a unique and obscure flick, with a lot of interesting twists and some quirky dialogue. The Coen’s thrive on those unique aspects, portraying each of them to near perfection each time around. T... read more

Tom Reagan is an advisor to Leo, a crime boss in an unnamed Prohibition-era town. When Leo and rival boss Johnny Caspar feud over a bookie who's been cheating Caspar, Tom tries to keep the peace. Instead he finds himself caught in the middle of a war of ambushes and shifting allegiances where nothing is ever quite what it seems.

I Recommend...(The Short List) (80 movies items)

" Drama Directed by the Coen Brothers. Really, you should watch all of the Coen Bros' movies. They've made two bad ones: Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers and even those have their redeeming moments (in The Ladykillers "We must all have waffles, forthwith!" is one of Tom Hanks' best line readings ever). They have a few lesser ones, but they're all pretty good. My favorite gangster movie. Set during Prohibition, it tells a complex story of two rival gangs (the Irish and the Italians) with"

10 Reasons the Coen Brothers are Like the Beatles (10 movies items)

"Movie: Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Miller's Crossing, more... The writer-directors clearly have a select bunch of favorite actors to work with, and these two Johns are at the top of that list (along with Steve Buscemi, of course). Aside from their equally riveting turns in BARTON FINK, they have both given us gems both large and small in a slew of the Brothers’ movies, and Goodman will again be appearing in Coen-land in their upcoming INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, starr"

A Complete review of the Coen Brothers' work (17 movies items)

" Cast : Gabriel Byrne, Marcia Gay Harden, John Turturro, Albert Finney, Steve Buscemi, Frances McDormand What was it about? Tom Regan, an advisor to a Prohibition-era crime boss, tries to keep the peace between warring mobs but gets caught in divided loyalties. My two cents: Each time I watch this flick, I enjoy it even more. It is a gangster flick with a rather slow pace but it is a great mix combining the Coen brothers directing style with the gangster-prohibition genre. The cast was als"
