Mary and Max update feed
Movies I've watched in 2011 (53 movies items)"Very, very good. The best non-anime animation I've seen in years."
Watched in 2011 (139 movies items)"First viewing After coming across rave reviews for Mary and Max all over Listal during the course of the past year, I decided I needed to check it out. Simply put, this is one of the best films I've ever seen. Brilliantly written with a perfect mix of darkness and comedy...the characters come off as completely real despite being created out of clay...the adult subject matter handled with intelligence.... It's so true to life, without coming off as pretentious or playing out like a documentary. "
Listal's 100 Films To See Before You Die (2011) (100 movies items)"Points: 11 Chosen by: the giraffe (6), Fabricio Mendes (5) Previous rank: it wasn't released yet IMDB top 250 rank: 210"
Best movies of 2009 (51 movies items)" Dr. Bernard Hazelhof said if I was on a desert island, then I would have to get used to my own company - just me and the coconuts. He said I would have to accept myself, my warts and all, and that we don't get to choose our warts. They are part of us and we have to live with them. We can, however, choose our friends, and I am glad I have chosen you."
Best of 00s (44 movies items)"Throughout 2010 I kept seeing this film in various Listal users' best-of lists, so I added it to my instant queue to check it out. Once I finally did, I understood why it received all the praise. It's extremely rare that an animated movie contains such complex characters that you believe they exist in the real world. The story is brilliant and unpredictable, with a perfect mix of humor and tragedy, lightness and darkness, wit and emotion. It's so true to life, without feeling like a documentary "
