A classic

Since I’m huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock, I was really eager to check this flick. To be honest, I haven’t seen (yet) the first version but apparently this remake is better. First of all, in my opinion, it is one of the coolest movie titles ever but, unfortunately, even though this title made me expect a spellbinding mystery, the whole thing didn’t really blow me away eventually. I mean, it was... read more

First of all, in my opinion, it is one of the coolest movie titles ever but, unfortunately, even though this title made me expect a spellbinding mystery, the whole thing didn’t really blow me away eventually. I mean, it was a solid mystery but with a similar plot, I thought that ‘North by Northwest’ was 10 times better (a regular guy gets involved in some conspiracy) . I don’t know, James Stewart and Doris Day were both fine but their characters were rather bland and not really interesting in my opinion. Even though I have most respect for James Stewart, I always preferred the Cary Grant’s characters in Hitc” read more

My Movie Diary: 1/13 (status: closed) (48 movies items)

"1/21/13 I haven't seen the 1934 film w/ Peter Lorre but this one is great! I do know that the earlier film was British-made but Hitchcock directed both. Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day are wonderful in these roles and I can't imagine the earlier one actually being better. The Man (of the title), Stewart's character, is a doctor who -along with wife, Day, and son - are vacationing in Morocco and mistaken for spies. Numerous twists and turns, combined with foul play follow and it's more than enough "
