While Mad Max 3 doesn't quite have the cult status of its two predecessors, I would argue that it's by far the most fun of the three. This movie is pure 80's Action/Adventure amusement park escapism. The proceedings are beefed up thanks to a hefty American budget, Tina Turner on board chewing the hell out of every scene she's in, and Mel doing what he does best. The tribe of lost children is also ... read more

A dismal misfire

"I ain't Captain Walker. I'm the guy who carries Mr. Dead in his pocket."

Released four years after the superlative Mad Max 2, 1985's Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome should have been a home run which closed the Mel Gibson-starring Mad Max trilogy on a high. But alas, it simply was not to be. Although Mad Max 2 received a sizable budget boost, Beyond Thunderdome is the first entry in the... read more

An average movie

Of course, I had already seen this movie but since it was ages ago, I was really eager to check it out again. This movie usually doesn’t get much love but I alway thought it was actually pretty decent, at least, when I first saw it as a kid. Well, after rewatching the damned thing after all these years, unfortunately, I have to agreed that it didn't really work after all. I mean, the first part ... read more

" Two directors in order to make a film is never a good thing, especially if one of them is George Miller backing down from his own project due to personal reasons. The film is nowhere as intense as the first two as it was made with a PG-13 rating and the film was originally meant as a "Lord of the Flies" update without any Mad Max and it really feels like this several times that we watch some other film than an true official Max movie. Tina Turner's hit "We don't need another hero" and The Thund"

The future kind of sucks. (362 movies items)

"Reason for the future sucking: Nuclear war turns all of Australia into a desert, people are reduced to living in shabby villages, methane is the fuel of the future, a group of kids, are forced to live, a Lord of The Flies like existence, and let's not forget THUNDERDOME! "There’s no laws in this place. Anything goes! It’s Thunderdome!!" Two men enter, one man leaves! Year it takes place: 2019, although another site suggests 2005. "

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- May 2015 (40 movies items)

" DVD- 1hr. 47min. First Viewing Based on the listal & IMDb scores, Beyond Thunderdome seems to be the black sheep of the Mad Max family. Indeed, story is a lot goofier and more mainstream (it's the only one of the four not to have an R rating) than the previous two, one could even goes as far as to call it campy, but that still didn't diminish my enjoyment. Hell, I had more fun with this one than I did with the original. The action is still quite strong, and I quite enjoyed the more epic look to"
