Living in a time where everyone is obsessed with zombies, disease, and everything that's closely related to post-apocalyptic doom, 1979's Mad Max hit like a cool air of an electric hand A/C. Just like how everyone seems to think that psychology in movies equal to copious amount of blood and numerous jump-scares, they also think that zombies and/or gangsters will be the post-apocalyptic world's onl... read more

A bit of suspense, a bit of action, a bit of dystopia... Mel Gibson before he went wacko. What else do we need?

In a dystopian future Australia, law & order has begun to break down. Berserk motorcycle gang member, Crawford "Nightrider" Montizano, has escaped police custody and is attempting to outrun the Main Force Patrol (MFP) in a stolen Pursuit Special (Holden Monaro). Though he manages to elude his initial pursuers, the MFP's top pursuit man, Max Rockatansky, then engages the less-skilled Nightrider in ... read more

Moviewatcher122's 2015 Film Diary: March (35 movies items)

"March 31 Re-watch - "I am the Nightrider. I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller!" I decided to just scrap the whole western month by not ending the month with one in favor of revisiting the first two Mad Max movies in anticipation for the new one which I am super hyped for. Also because Doomsday was such a bad rip-off of the series that it made me wish I was watching it. This movie was even better on the second viewing. During t"

Movie Diary 2015 (47 movies items)

"18.3. At times the pacing is a bit here and there, but overall there's a lot to enjoy in that Australian film that everyone knows. Just look at Max's boss Fifi's outfit when he tries to convince Max to return to the force. The chase scenes are worth their reputation and the biker gang is really evil as well. You could recognice some satire in certain scenes, but honestly, it isn't anything revolutionary."

Aprakadabra's Movie Diary - 2015 (143 movies items)

Just like how everyone seems to think that psychology in movies equal to copious amount of blood and numerous jump-scares, they also think that zombies and/or gangsters will be the post-apocalyptic world's only residents, with the occasional lone-guy or two. Although nothing has changed much from yesteryear's dystopic films and of the ones of the now, at-least the old ones had class. Though we do have some great modern examples - like The Road - almost all of them steer in the one direction, with little to offer, apart from the usual tough guy and attractive eye-candy. The old dystopic films, especiall” read more

Interesting film facts (393 movies items)

"The car that Max drives (a black "Pursuit Special"; the phrase "last of the V8 interceptors" was not used until Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior) is a production car, the Ford "XB Falcon Coupe", sold in Australia from December 1973 until August 1976. The car in the film had a standard 351 cubic inch (5.75 litre) V8 motor. Max's yellow interceptor car, a Ford Falcon XB sedan, was originally a police car from the Australian state of Victoria. Max's yellow interceptor car, a Ford Falcon XB sedan, was "
