All In The Family

A suicidal gay uncle, an unspoken emo brother who dreams of flying jet fighters, a motivational-speaking dad who always seems to be out of touch, a seven year old out of shape, pangeant-contesting "super-freak", and a heroin-addicted grandpa with the power to spout out Oscar-worthy expletives, all capped off by a mom who tends to serve popsicles for dessert.
Everything you need to provide a big yellow vehicle such as this with a solid push.

Overrated, but solid comedy/drama

"There's two kinds of people in this world, there's winners and there's losers. Okay, you know what the difference is? Winners don't give up." Little Miss Sunshine is ostensibly a road trip movie concerning the realisation that family is family. It's a wholly daunting task to reinvent the family road trip genre in this contemporary era of cinema, especially if the filmmakers are aiming for realistic as opposed to hyperbolic. Either the production is going to be entirely over-the-top akin to National Lampoon's Vacation, or the filmmakers strive to maintain a sense of reality: portraying the adventure to be tediously dull, reminiscent of an actual road trip. With Little Miss Sunshine, the action and comedy derive commonly from the people involved as opposed to a peculiar state of affairs ...Read more

[Film] Little Miss Sunshine

This little independent flim is quite a charmer. Almost completely written and directed by newcomers, Little Miss Sunshine is by no means perfect, but what it lacks in film techniques and plot depth is made up by its heart and emotional honesty. The scope of the story does not go beyond a small family made up of quirky characters - the heroine-addicted grandfather, the unsuccessful motivational speaker father, the mother who can't quit smoking, the Nietzsche obsessed teenage son who has taken a vow of silence, the suicidal unemployed Proust scholar uncle and the little girl who dreams of winning the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. This family is as dysfunctional and neurotic as your average sitcom family, but the characters are more real and interesting than their sitcom counterparts,...Read more

Watch it NOW

Alright!!!
Fab-ul-ous movie. The best movie ive seen in ages, some parts i was laughing my head off, some i was very (i mean VERY) sad.

Ok, so Olive was a bit eh. I liked her character, but not really the actor.
I personally thought Alan Arkin was a great role in this movie, very funny quotes by him.
I love the part where he chucks a spaz about the chicken. classic.

One thing: Why is Dwane suddenly colourblind because of one test? I felt so sorry for him then, but then again, at least he started talking again.

I would see this, even if yor not too sure about it. It is enjoyable and fun to watch, so go, borrow it, buy it, whatever. You just have to see for yourself.

"Quirky characters have scheduled breakdowns"

This is perhaps the most accurate summation of any film I've ever read. It describes the whole film to a tee. While I don't think it was a particularly bad film, it wasn't very fun to watch. Spiked with moments of light humour, I thought this was too similar to The Royal Tenenbaums in the 'dysfunctional family' stakes. Some of the events that unfold in this film are almost too surreal to be taken seriously.

The plot was fairly depressing throughout and the final scene was almost too embarassing to watch.

Wen...Read more

This is one of the best films I have seen in the theater all year. A superb dark comedy that successfully combines real life drama with the quirky comedies that fall in between. A must see.
